Transporting Historic Drag Racing Cars
A Logistics Plus® Supply Chain Success Story!Transporting Historic Drag Racing Cars Across the Globe
THE STORY
When a world-famous drag racing museum needed to transport two legendary drag racing cars from the USA to the UK, they called Logistics Plus. The engines started in Ocala, Florida, with both vehicles moving across the ocean, safely and securely crossing the finish line at their final destination in Podington, Bedfordshire, England.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Logistics Plus Motorsports team organized the pickup, loading, ocean freight, and final delivery of two world-famous drag racing cars.
- Logistics Plus picked up the Swamp Rat from Ocala, Florida, and transported it to its Savannah facility, where the Rat Trap was being stored.
- Unfortunately, the East Coast was in the middle of a labor port strike, which added additional pressure to the project.
- The two vehicles were expeditiously loaded into a container once the port strike ended (in 3 days).
- The container was transported on the next ocean vessel available from Savannah to Felixstowe Port, where the cars were unloaded and then delivered to their new home at Santapod Raceway in England.
- The drag racing cars arrived on schedule and in perfect condition, allowing them to make a surprise appearance at the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala the following day.
