Canada Rail Strike
Update: As of 8/23/24, the Canada rail strike has ended.
Canada’s largest railroads, Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City, both said they had formally locked out union rail employees at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, August 22, 2024. CN said the lockout came after the union did not respond to its final contract offer in an attempt to avoid a labor disruption.

India Port Strikes
Update: As of 8/28/24, the India port strike has ended.
A group of Indian port workers’ unions has called for a strike starting on August 28, 2024, to demand immediate settlement of pay revisions and pension benefits, according to a note signed by its members. A strike by India’s port workers could exacerbate the existing congestion issues at Asian and European ports, leading to further delayed shipments, which have a global impact on trade and commerce.

U.S. East & Gulf Coast Port Strikes
The potential for an East Coast port strike on October 1, 2024, concerns global trade, retail, and consumers alike. The current 6-year agreement covers approximately 25,000 port workers employed in container and roll-on/roll-off operations at ports on the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts and runs from October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2024.
