Today Gretchen Seth and Julie Slomski (along with Laura Schaaf of the Barber Center) volunteered to sort and pack donations for Erie for Ukraine. Gretchen provided a first-hand account of the experience, along with the photos below.
“Once again, the support of ordinary people has been incredible! Someone dropped off four huge pallets of hand sanitizer wipes. One couple drove a packed Uhaul and SUV from Bradford, and they plan to do it again in two weeks.
We sorted and packed dozens of cartons of personal care items, medical supplies, food, and clothing. We probably built at least eight pallets, all at least 6’ high.
There was a steady stream of people dropping off items all afternoon.
As an added bonus, a Ukrainian lady brought eight loaves of paska fresh from the oven, which she served with jam and glasses of milk!
They are looking for volunteers for the next two Saturdays, so I hope we can enlist some Logistics Plus employees to join us.”
Last night, Logistics Plus hosted a fundraiser at The BrewErie at Union Station. It was a fun night filled with appetizers, brews, games, and giveaways (and a few Jell-O shots ?). By the end, we helped raise another $2,159 for Ukraine relief efforts?? (and we sold out all the Jell-O shots … thanks Yuriy)! Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed! https://lpukrainerelief.com/
The students at Erie Catholic School System’s six elementary schools made cards for Logistics Plus Ukraine employees and their families and many additional cards for other families in Ukraine. Bridget Philip, President of Erie Catholic School System, and Tami Faram, its Director of Strategic Advancement, had the honor of presenting the cards to Yuriy Ostapyak, Logistics Plus COO (who is from Ukraine). Logistics Plus will arrange air delivery of the cards to Poland and personally deliver them to refugee centers in Poland, Ukraine, and surrounding areas. Children and families in Ukraine will be comforted to know they have such strong support. Some of the kids even wrote their cards in Ukrainian! Special thank you to Erie News Now reporter Ethan Kibbe for being on hand to chronicle this fabulous gift of the heart.
