Congratulations and thank you to the Logistics Plus Lexington NC team for the great job they did volunteering to help with recent relief efforts for Puerto Rico. Last week Logistics Plus partnered with HanesBrands to receive and prepare several trailers of goods collected to assist hurricane victims in Florida and Puerto Rico (read more about the HanesBrands donation here). LP’s role was to receive, segregate, re-palletize and separate the goods for air and ocean transportation. The team jumped in Friday morning, and five hours later everything was completed, ready, and waiting on final shipping instructions! A big thank you goes to branch manager Tony Holmes and his contributing team members: Judy Lackey; Jennifer Berrier; Janet Tussey; Chad Blossom; Terry Smith; Mike McCrae; and Aaron Holmes.

The event is intended to celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the 2016-2017 All-Area high school student athletes and top performers from 48 high schools across 8 Counties in 22 sports.
The inaugural awards banquet, which takes place on Friday, June 23rd, 2017 at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie, PA, is a way to say thank you to the thousands of outstanding high school athletes, coaches and fans who allow Erie Times-News/GoErie.com to share their stories, performances and passions. Awards will be presented to the Outstanding Player of the Year in each sport, as well as Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year. Best of Varsity Cup athletes are invited to attend for free and the event is open to family, friends and the general public. The event will also feature Pittsburgh Steelers Linebacker Ryan Shazier as a special guest. During a live question and answer session, Ryan will discuss lessons he’s learned and memories he’s made during his career.

Logistics Plus and Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority Work Out Parking Lot Deal
EMTA to use Logistics Plus Sassafras parking lot in exchange for new lighting, lot maintenance.
ERIE, PA (March 22, 2017) – Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions, recently agreed to a temporary parking lot arrangement with the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA). EMTA will use the far end of the Logistics Plus lot just off of Sassafras Street and 14th Street (behind the Rapid Transit Building, west of Union Station) for parking for the next two years while it renovates its own parking garage. In return, EMTA will provide updated lighting and pavement, and will arrange for plowing services for all Union Station lots during the winter months.
“EMTA will have about 75 cars there (in the Sassafras parking lot) daily. In return for us letting them use that previously unused space, they will light the yard better, pave it, and plow it,” said Jim Berlin, founder and CEO for Logistics Plus. “It’s a fair deal and a win-win for both parties. Plus, I like the idea of having more ‘life’ here around the Union Station area.”
“I appreciate Jim working with us on this arrangement – it’s a good exchange,” said Michael Tann, executive director for EMTA. “The Sassafras lot is located in the heart of Erie and is only a few blocks from the EMTA offices. It’s great when local businesses and agencies work together to support projects that will ultimately improve the greater Erie community.”
