Logistics Plus Supports Oceans by Purchasing Recycled Plastic Pallets
Pallets were made by Restoring Integrity to the Oceans, Inc. (RIO) using plastic waste harvested from the ocean.
ERIE, PA (March 17, 2021) – Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, continues to support the ocean cleanup initiatives of Restoring Integrity To The Oceans (RIO) by purchasing 1,200 recycled, air freight approved pallets made from plastic waste. Logistics Plus will use the pallets at its Erie, PA-based warehouses and make them available for purchase to local customers requiring durable pallets for storage and shipping.
“For this one purchase order of 1,200 pallets, we removed 13,200 pounds of trash from our oceans,” said Keiran Kelly, CEO of RIO. “Just imagine what we can do if more companies follow suit as Logistics Plus has done.”
In addition to recycled pallets, RIO also manufactures and sells other products out of recycled ocean plastic waste, including straws, kitchen utensils, toilet paper, and tennis shoes. The biggest news of last month in the maritime community was the CMA CGM Jacques Saade joining CMA CGM’s fleet on September 23. The Jacques Saade is a 23,000 TEU container vessel that is the largest liquified natural gas (LNG) powered container ship in the world. Logistics Plus is proud to have played a role in making this possible by assisting our customer, Wartsila Gas Solutions, with the delivery of all parts for the gas handling and auxiliary systems they supplied and installed on this ship. Logistics Plus would like to congratulate our long term strategic partner CMA CGM for this new addition to their already performant fleet.
The majority of the cargo Logistics Plus delivered to Jiangnan shipyard came from China via a special ‘bonded logistics zone’ procedure. This procedure always proves to be difficult -especially for oversized cargo – as it involves carefully checking both the export (supplier) and import (shipyard) documents and customs declarations. The remaining cargo was shipped from various locations around the world.

Logistics Plus Renews Its Annual U.S. EPA SmartWay Transport® Partnership
It’s the tenth consecutive year that Logistics Plus successfully completes its SmartWay emissions reporting.
ERIE, PA (September 17, 2020) – Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics, and supply chain solutions, is proud to announce that it has submitted and received approval for its current data submission to the SmartWay Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the industry.
Since 2004, SmartWay has helped partners avoid emitting 134 million tons of air pollution (NOx, PM, and CO2), which helps protect the environment and keep Americans healthy. Emissions reductions benefit communities near ports, borders, and truck stops, protecting the health and well-being of citizens in these areas. Each year, performance data is submitted and reviewed to qualify as a SmartWay partner. The EPA recently approved the Logistics Plus annual submission of Partnership reporting requirements for the tenth consecutive year.

SmartWay Transport is the U.S. EPA’s flagship program for improving fuel efficiency and reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution from the transportation supply chain industry. The Logistics Plus Bremen team is proud to have successfully delivered the first shipments for the latest Siemens electricity transmission project in Iraq. In total, Logistics Plus handled 9 power transformers and accessories from the transformer factory site to the port of export.
Siemens is currently building thirteen 132/33kV substations and delivering 35 power transformers as part of their goal for the electrification of Iraq. The goal of this project is to invigorate the country’s electricity transmission and distribution network to support the community and its power grid while leading to sustainable economic development.
